Are You Sure That Is Good Advice?
OK, but what self? Your kindergarten self or your high school prom night self? What about the self screaming at the kids? Or that self that chose to treat a coworker unfairly? The self who cheated on his spouse? What about the self that was fired from a job and is still trying to recover from that abrupt change?
“Be Yourself” I never thought this was good advice. There are times when I was being “Rick” that were not only embarrassing but reprehensible! And that is saying it kindly. Not my best self. I can admit it, but those stories will go to my grave! 🙂
Frankly, if many of us acted at work like the “self at home”, we might get fired. Are you tracking with me?
So when you choose to “Be Yourself” – at the office and at home – be that self that people enjoy and appreciate being around. Be that self that you would be proud to be and want others to follow. Decide to choose that self every day.
