Growing up in Multifamily, I sometimes considered Monday the arch-nemesis of my weekend joy, much like an unwanted alarm clock that yanks you out of a beautiful dream. Yes, I was one of those who spent Sunday dreading the inevitable. I even christened it my “pre-Monday”—a day smeared by the looming shadow of the week ahead.
Enter Rick Ellis, or “Mr. Monday,” with his ever-present smile and contagiously optimistic take on practically everything, including Mondays. Rick doesn’t just embrace Mondays; he celebrates them. Eventually (these things don’t happen overnight!) I learned to see each Monday not as the end of my weekend but as a canvas for the week ahead, brimming with potential and opportunities.
Here’s the Multifamily twist: imagine starting every week by setting a positive tone for yourself and every resident and colleague. It’s all about perspective. It’s another day that we get to be on this earth; shouldn’t we be thankful for that?
So, after changing my perspective and planning better for the next week, Monday became my ally, the day I set the stage for a week of achievements and positive interactions. It’s the day I can introduce new incentives for my clients or set a warm, vibrant tone for upcoming projects.
From dreaded to eagerly anticipated, Mondays transformed under Rick’s philosophy and they can for you too!
So here’s a shoutout to Mondays: the unsung heroes in our weekly saga. Thanks to Rick, they’re no longer the days I love to hate but the start of something great. And as for Sunday, it’s back to being part of my weekend like it’s supposed to be!
Whether you’re in leasing, maintenance, or management, remember that every Monday is a chance to reset, renew, and revitalize.
Let’s make each one count!
