Likeability Factor #1

People like to lease from people they like. Duh! That is a no-brainer, right? Maybe the opposite statement is more profound: Prospects do not like to lease from people they don’t like…and will be happy to go lease elsewhere if you are not pretty darn likable!
Renters prefer to lease from someone who is genuine, positive, has a sense of humor, is a good listener, and seems trustworthy. These are all traits of someone who is likable. So how can you be more likable?
- SMILE! – Your VERY first impression comes from the way you look. A big smile says better than words ever could, “You are welcome here!”.
- Tone of Voice – Then comes your friendly and optimistic words as you greet the prospect with a genuine and warm “Howdy howdy!” or something more appropriate to your property and region.
- Stand Up – Show respect and eagerness to connect by getting off your butt. Standing shows your are the welcoming point person. C’mon over and have a seat!
- Positive Presence – Don’t underestimate the power of “Being There”. This allows a level of intimacy and trust that will create an immediate bond. Solid presence allows a level of intimacy and trust that will create an immediate bond. Prospects like leasing pros who really show up for the presentation.
Likability Tip: Love the prospect’s pet; dog, cat, bird, or reptile! People have pets because they think that their precious hunk of fur is incredibly special and lovable. If you like their pet, the prospect will like you! Show appreciation and affection for little “Bella,” and you will have your prospect hooked on you and your community.
